Haxan/Terror Vision, in association with Varèse Sarabande, still can’t believe we’re getting the chance to release the expanded score to 2005’s groundbreaking, noir-soaked classic Sin City on cassette for the first time. Executive produced by Robert Rodriguez, and just in time for its 20th anniversary.

Based on Frank Miller’s seminal comic book series, Sin City tells three separate stories that unfold in the dark, violent streets of Basin City. Each tale follows characters navigating crime, corruption, and moral gray areas, from a determined protector to a vengeful outsider and a man seeking redemption. The film blends noir style, striking visuals, and intertwining narratives to bring Miller’s distinctive world to life.

Sin City was directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, with a guest-directed scene by Quentin Tarantino. The film stars Bruce Willis, Benicio Del Toro, Clive Owen, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Nick Stahl, Rosario Dawson, Brittany Murphy, Michael Clarke Duncan, Powers Boothe, Jaime King, Michael Madsen, Carla Gugino, and Devon Aoki.

The film’s score was devised by three composers—Robert Rodriguez (Kill Bill: Volume 2), Graeme Revell (The Crow), and John Debney (I Know What You Did Last Summer)—each bringing their own polish to one of the three stories. This unique approach gave every story its own distinct musical identity. The music is like a time capsule of the gangster films from Hollywood’s long-lost, bourbon-soaked noir heyday, but with a modern twist that adds a steamy layer of intrigue, brutality, and sleaze to every scene.

The epic release includes expanded artwork and over 80 minutes of music.
